Women in the Outdoors - Spanish Fork, Utah.

My friends and I have found this group that does wilderness classes just for women. I go twice a year with this being my third year of participating. Boy am I hooked. So far I have tried archery, horseback riding (my favorite),canoes, kayaking(see below), dutch oven, shotguns, muskets, knife throwing, oil painting, fly fishing, self defense, 22s, handguns and paint balling (wow, what an adrenaline rush). The older I get the more adventurous I become.

My friends Ginger, Heather and Stacy (not pictured) went with me in June. We thought for sure they would cancel the classes with all the rain. That was definitely not the case. We did end up packing up a day early because we ran out of dry clothes and shoes. Ginger had to borrower clothes from Heather just to make it through the day. She earned the klutz award of the trip. Instead of getting in the kayak she took a tumble over the other side right into the water. After I stopped laughing I did check to make sure she was okay.

I think I layered just about everything I brought just to stay warm. We look like Eskimos.

Here is Heather after she was out of the water. I didn't want to chance tipping my kayak over and getting my camera wet so this was the best I could do.














This was the scariest part of the whole experience. Right where we were kayaking was this dam. We did our best to keep far from it. Of course since I am the klutz in the group (I think Ginger shares that title now) I got teased about being the one to get sucked in. The instructor told me that if I did hang on and enjoy the ride. She said I would probably make it back to camp before they did. Was she kidding? I hope so but just in case I steered clear.
